Wangki Radio Station Fitzroy Crossing

Wangki Yupurnanupurru, radio 936AM broadcasts to an area about 150 kilometres around Fitzroy Crossing.

This was the home of Nooley Preston, considered to be the 'Grandfather of Indigenous Radio in the Kimberley' ,now passed away, he was with the station from the very start of Fitzoy Crossing's 'Wangki Radio'. A community station, it broadcasts through the Kimberly. He had a listenership of some 10,000 people via the PAKAM network. Wanki Radio also broadcasts through the National Indigenous Radio Service.

Wangki Radio travels out to the communities for interviews and broadcasts announcements from communities and towns, also, they read out the weather & road report and play lots of great music. For more information go here>>
